From Overgrown Jungle to a Complete Garden Transformation in Rechovot
This Rechovot garden had become completely overgrown, with vines, trees and neglected planting taking over the entire outdoor space. Through careful clearance, ground preparation, custom fencing, synthetic grass, stonework and new planting, we transformed it into a clean, practical and welcoming garden.
From Jungle to Garden
When we first visited this garden in Rechovot, Israel, it looked more like a jungle than a garden. Years of limited maintenance had allowed vegetation to take over.
Poison ivy climbed around electrical cables, data lines, palm trees and neighbouring walls. In addition, trees had grown into the neighbouring garden, while untended bushes covered large areas of the property.
Construction waste, stones, branches and other debris added to the problem. As a result, the garden had lost its structure and offered very little usable space.
Planning the Transformation
Before starting the work, we created AI garden visualisations for the client. These visuals showed how we could transform the space and helped the client explore different ideas for the finished garden.
Once we agreed on the design direction, we set a clear budget and planned the work. We then began the complete garden transformation.
The first stage involved extensive garden clearance. We cut back the overgrown vegetation and removed construction waste, stones, branches, trees and unwanted bushes. At the same time, we cleared vegetation from the property boundaries and areas where it had spread into neighbouring spaces.
Creating a Defined Property Boundary
After clearing the garden, we focused on the property’s boundaries. The rear perimeter consisted of three walls that joined the neighbouring properties.
First, we poured concrete for the new fence posts to create a strong foundation. We then built and painted a custom privacy fence for the rear of the garden.
As a result, the new fence created a clear property boundary and added much-needed privacy. It also gave the garden a more finished and structured appearance.
Raising and Preparing the Ground
The rear garden presented another challenge. The existing ground level had sunk well below the level of the house tiles and patio.
To correct this, we first extended the height of the existing manholes to match the new finished ground level. Next, we brought in two truckloads of small stones to raise the garden.
The stone was then spread and compacted to create a firm and stable base. This provided the right foundation for the weed-control membrane and synthetic grass.
Synthetic Grass Installation
Once we completed the ground preparation, we installed a weed-control membrane across the garden.
We then measured, cut and fitted the synthetic grass to the space. The sections were carefully joined and secured firmly in place.
Finally, we brushed the grass fibres to give the lawn a fresh and full appearance. The new synthetic lawn created a clean and practical surface that was easy to maintain.
Custom-Built Stone Planters
With the main garden surface complete, we added custom stone planters, planting areas and ground cover to bring colour and structure to the space. We built the planters from the ground up using tile adhesive cement, then filled them with fresh soil for herbs and colourful bushes.
We also created a low stone border for four large 75-litre fruit trees: avocado, lemon, mango and orange. Finally, we added Dichondra ground cover and additional colourful planting to soften the hard landscaping.
Together, the synthetic grass, natural planting, fruit trees and custom stonework create a defined and welcoming garden. The new layout also makes the space easier to maintain and gives each planting area a clear purpose.
The Finished Rechovot Garden
This Rechovot garden transformation combined extensive garden clearance with landscaping, ground preparation, custom fencing, synthetic grass, stonework and new planting.
Through this process, we took a severely overgrown and neglected garden and created a structured outdoor space. The finished garden now has clear boundaries, a practical lawn, dedicated planting areas and space for fruit trees to grow.
The project also shows how garden design and AI visualisation can help turn an initial idea into a practical landscaping plan. Most importantly, we worked within the client’s budget and transformed the existing space around their requirements.
